182 DECAT why does it hit limiter earlier

JUST NOTICED my limiter comes in earlier i dont usually rag it to the limiter but as i just fitted the decat a thought ad see what it was like......befor it would limit after 7 now its under 7?? i thought the limiter went on engine speed....whats changed to make it limit lower?? ( i know i just fitted a decat for the people who will answer the 'whats changed' question with...a decat)

Limiter is at 6800 or 6900 until engine/oil warms up. That might be the prob. Yes the limiter does go on engine speed, WTF else is it gonna go on?! fuel consumption?

Was the engine fully warmed up when you hit the limiter too early?

The limiter's lowered until your engine oil is up to temperature...which can take longer than the water temperature indicated by the guage in your dash.

Perhaps because you car is rev'ing freer, its appears to be limited sooner. Or perhaps the engine is running lean affecting the ECU readings which in turn is bringing on the limiter sooner?? Just a thought...

When I had my exhaust and rpsport on it , it hit the limiter at 120 in 4th....decat on and it went to 125 so go figure lol

Apoligies big_peaches, I thought you did ask that.

I think the limiter does cut in earlier on the lower gears (sorry if you already know this!), so if you were trying in 1st or 2nd that may be the explanation.

I get limiter at 7250 after about 5 minutes of warming the car up.

Mine can take up to 15 minutes before the 7250 limit is allowed.

warmed up or not it's 6.8k in 1st and 2nd and 7.2k for rest... don't you ppl read manuals
