182 Dogbone fitment issues.

  BG Clio 182
Took car to well trusted garage. They could only get the big powerflex purple bush in apparently the other one was way too big. Comes with 2 washers that also haven't been used.

The car does now vibrate quite a bit more and the gear changes are definitely more positive. The revs seem to not drop so much between gear changes as well like when the clutch is down is this normal too?

I will be taking the car to DDC shortly in donny, will they be able to sort it or should I leave it?

Please respond lol.

Too big??

The washers are essential. The bushes will wear out. Having said that, they go on the smaller bush anyway

I'm slightly confused. You got a link to the dogbone mounts you've ordered. I fitted mine myself with no issues.

Its a piece of piss to do mate. I can't see how a garage could possibly get it wrong
Haha well I've posted the item number mate lol. car drives fine so what should I do? it'll be up at ddc within the next 3 weeks and will be covering about 600 miles in this time.

I'm not sure what to say really. If they haven't fitted it CORRECTLY if it was me I'd buy a second hand OEM dogbone and fit the mounts yourself.

I think the big one is in fine just the other is a standard renault one. Would it be okay to drive then without the uprated smaller one in?

Hardest bit is getting the old rubber out, pressing in the polybushes is relatively easy,
can't see how they couldn't do it, unless they couldn't be bothered.

It'll be fine yes I'd imagine. But a bit counter productive really. I wouldn't settle until it was sorted. Shame you're not local, I could of sorted it for ya

Any photos of it fitted to see what they have done? If you still have the washers you could perhaps fit them yourself. I have done it twice in the last two months.

Looking to at the one I have recently purchased, i would say the larger bush is the hardest to remove, so looks like they couldn't be bothered with the small one imo. Not good of a garage really.

Would this be how it would go into the Mount itself? washers in the correct place etc?

Is that right using the washers and the bigger bolt metal bit?

Am I right in thinking the big one is on correctly but I should just ask him to do the smaller one as I've shown on the picture?

  dan's cast offs.
they seriously couldn't work out how to get the bush in??

ask them to count to three and see how far they get:wink:

Haha ;) so if I take it and say fit it as I said with the thick bit to the top of the car with a washer then all will be well and good haha. I'll tell em tomorrow. How long will it take bare in mind they've done the big one already?

Should take about 10 mins. It's already been out recently so just needs the two bolts removing, mount back out whack that old bush out with a hammer in a vice or a press if your feeling fancy, push the new bush in by hand, put it back in place as you have in your photos with the washers and put the two bolts back in.

Take it back and get them to do it properly mate! If not I'm happy to help on Sunday with it?
Thanks Dan mate, I think they will do it tomorrow if I pop in and ask them nicely haha.

Ah that's great so as it then, I presume just smeared in some copper grease?

Cheers everyone for the help. Was a little panicking moment lol.

I wasn't even sure what parts to put the grease on so just smeared it about a bit. It's either corrosion protection, lubrication to press the bush in or for anti squeaking. Lol

Jesus christ, do not go back to that garage for f**k sake!!!
Haha. Nah they're great but they're all like 50 and 60. They don't understand modern things lol. They're great at usual things but they aren't used to my strange requests lol.

To be honest, if they're older boys, they should really know. Changing one side of a mount like this is amatuer material.

Its fairly straight forward to do.

Haha I agree entirely lol. Do you think the big one is okay judging by the pictures then? If it's just the small one then if they fix it im a happy bunny haha

The bigger end is fine, the other side goes this way up towards the gearbox;

Make SURE they put the washers in or it will fail within months and knock its c**t off again
