182 exhaust woes....again

Lee

As most of you know I had the centre section replaced at around 9k miles. Since Ive had it done Ive been pretty sure one of the joins wasnt sealed correctly and that it was blowing a little. I was also sure this was contributing to the lumpy idle.

Today the car has been in to a different dealer to have its 12k service. I asked them to look over the exhaust for me, which they did. Apparently Sutton Park Renault have fitted it badly and left it blowing. Now Ive had to book it back in at Sutton Park to get it put right. Id have preferred to have not had to take it back to them but they carried out the original job under warranty so have to put it right.

Im not touching it, I only intend to keep it until its 12 months old anyway. Plus the 6 points I have are hurting enough as it is.

another case of monkeys working at dealers.

yeh thats about right, when i had mine fixed they left one tailpipe sitting 2 inches above the other, so i went back in and complained, then they took it and bought it back, this time they were straight but were pointing to much to the left ??, they said they couldnt do anything else with it ???

a few days later i noticed the joint was leeking were they cut and shut it together, i took it in and they said they couldnt fix the leek (thats how they go after being joined !!), but they can straighten the pipes and they did so !!

Im standing by.

And it was a 405 dumbass.

Oh and just to make you all laugh a bit more i didnt check if it was lined up correctly when i refitted the exhaust. (well i did but the H&S system expands sh*tloads when its hot)

So its destroyed both the heatshields on the bumper and one has fallen off.

AND the shields are £28.70 each! Expensive mistake!

182blue, I have no idea which part is blowing.

Ive got a copy of the report and it just states its badly fitted and blowing. Sutton Park didnt like the fact another dealer criticised their handy work!

Im sick to death of it. Im making at least 2 trips to the dealer a month again and each time they do f**k all. You can be 100% sure theyll do what you are playing for but everything else somehow fails to be sorted. When you call they are all "sorry we can fit you in....." what about me fitting them in? I dont want to have to keep taking my car in, its never convenient for me.

They are on my hit list. Im due to renew on the 5th of March so will start calling round next week.

Ive decided to complain to RUK about the exhaust issue, and the fact that so far Ive had two dealers fail to carry out the work I requested even though they had 6 weeks notice to order the parts. I cant keep wasting my day dropping off and picking up my car because some monkey cant do his job properly. Once is an honest mistake, twice is careless but three times is pure incompetence.

Nooooooo ... Ive just booked mine into Sutton Park on tuesday for the 3k Rattle...

I might just go and get myself a full custom jobbie... save all the hassle.

OMG thats disgusting... Theyve just plastered gum glue everywhere lolol

They must of known they were going to see your car again mate, theres no way thats gonna hold for long..

I reckon they should take the time and effort to remove the back bumper drop the rear wishbone and put in a full 1 piece unit rather than cut it and bodge it like they have. But thats how its done unfortunately.

im afraid youll probably find you can only get the rear half in two pieces. BMW exhausts are the same. fitted as one piece at factory but you only get them in two pieces when ordering as a replacement part.

The trouble is with renault (and all manufacturers) is all this booking your car in bulls**t ....If they simply had a look while you were there they would feel a bit more abliged to do a proper job "if" the car had to stay with them. You lose that bit of personal attention coz its just yet another car to them... imo

Lee get them to give you two new sections and bring it down to me and ill fit it for you. Jills is fine with a two piece rear section and i fitted that (without exhaust paste i hasten to add)
