182 gearbox into a 172

Can’t seem to find a right answer so will just ask. Will a 182 gearbox fit in my ph2 172 non cup?

If you have MY2003 172 with cruise/ESP then a 182 JC5-130 is the correct box.
If you have MY2002 172 then a JC-129 with speedo drive from Ph2 172 or 172 cup is what you are after.

If you would like a higher final drive ratio, you can use a JC5-089 from a PH1 172.
The gear ratios themselves are the same.

Best way to know is have a look at the box your car has, you're looking for this, or lack of it.
The orange stripe wire with the little metal heat shield, it's the speedo drive, as said if you have one you'll need a JC5 129.

I have a 52 plate 172 and don't have a speedo drive so I always use JC5 130's.

JC5-130 will fit any 172, as long as you do not require a manually driven speedometer.

Sorry to hijack, but your pic indicated that I'm not the only person with the tin foil heat shield fallen of the firewall and melting on the headers.
Any way to fix it?
