There is no good reason not to.
The car may not have an alarm or locking wheel nuts, like the dealer imported ones but other than that the spec is the same.
Some people claim the values s/h are less but it depends on where you want to sell it on.
If there is a good saving to be had, why not. IMHO

I'm on my second import , the first being a 172 , i had an aftermarket alarm fitted and renualt locking wheel nuts and sold it on autotrader for the same price as so called " UK " models .
My 182 is from motorpoint . Full 3 year Renault warranty and full 3 year AA assist
Toad aftermarket cat 1 alarm fitted and Renault locking wheel nuts . When i come to sell i know i'll get the same price as a UK model Oh and it has both cup packs

im wondering what people think of the deal, its a 54 plate titanium 182 with both cup packs, 1 owner, 24k miles just been serviced, new tyres on the front. car looks in mint condition apart from it has some kirbing on 1 wheel and a tiny little ding in the door which can easily be removed. hpi clear also, the car never came up as imported on the hpi.
he wants £7700 for it.

thats with a bit knocked off lol, he wanted 8k, to be honest i only want that colour and there hasnt been that many forsale in silver with both cup packs in the last month!
might try and get a bit more off as he didnt tell me it was an import and it didnt come up as an import on the hpi it was the fact the hpi said the colour was grey!

yeah i know what your saying Marie, thing is iv been to see a few 05/55 plate 182s and a trophy in the last month or so which have all been pretty poor and iv walked away!, now im starting to get desperate lol, i really want a titanium one with both cup packs and there havnt been any that have came up locally apart from a poorly looked after one, so iv decided im going to travel a fair distance tomorrow to see this and i had told myself il buy it if its ok!
did you end up selling your 182 in the end? i remember seeing it on piston heads for what i thought was a great price but i hadnt sold my car at the time!

Nope still got my car Dean . .Didnt even have a viewing .. couple of phone calls but nothing serious.
People are letting them go for peanuts and I would rather keep it for another 12 months ...
Look at the liquid yellow that someone bought off here the other week for less than £8k ..

ah ok i see, suprised nobody came to view the car! id have bought it lol, looks real nice too!

my insurance company doesnt have it down as an import and neither does the hpi which i thought was strange.
might ask him today if hes willing to knock more off before i travel down!

How do you know its an import then ?
To be sure, get the VIN or even just the reg of him and phone a renault dealership .. they will tell you over the phone if its a UK car or not ..

Mine's an import, I spent 400 nicker on a monster Clifford alarm and it came with the wheel nuts so all good to go.
well i did a hpi and it came back telling me the car was grey not silver lol so i thought id ask the guy and he said it was from motorpoint but it was a uk spec import from france.
i got the vin from him was planning to phone renault with it tommorow!, i think it must be registered with them as he had a letter about the bonnet safety catch!
well il have to think long and hard today!

Like Maz said . Don't be too desparate to buy one just cos it seems like there are no good ones about . If your not 100% sure about the car when you view it walk away . A good un will come up for sale eventually . Its easy to let desparation cloud your judgement . If you can ,take mate with ya as well . They usually spot things you won't as your excited and he'll probably think it's just a clio , lol .
lol all my mates are pretty keen on them, im pretty clued up on looking at cars so il probably still pull it to bits on things im not happy with!
yeh i will walk away if im not sure, gonna see if he will knock some money of to get an alarm or something if i do like the rest of the car!
il try calling them just now then and see what they say!
what sort of stuff should i ask them about? just the warrenty etc?

I'd give them a call. See what they say. They will defo tell you if it is still under warranty. It would be great if you can get any other info. Like i say it could just have been the dealers i asked that would not disclose the info on warranty work

lol just work that had been carried out under warranty on the car .. anyway they gave me the info but that was nearly two years ago Just give them a call tell them you are looking at buying a car and ask them to check if its a UK car and if there is any warranty work on record .. if you dont get any joy drop me a pm and I will give you the dealership number I dealt with as they gave me all the details over the phone

Ask about the service hsitory , any receipts for any work that might have been carried out . Check the new tyres on the front aren't billy budget ones , you don't want to be finding yourself in a ditch . Also check the rear tyres , if there's not much tread left you'll be looking at around £150 - £160 to replace them with Michelin PE2's . Check condition of the pads and discs , also check the condition of the exhaust as they don't last long , they tend to drop bits after a couple of years , another big bill .Also the little ecu bracket tends to snap , check that as well . All good bargaining tools though for knocking the price down
Make a check list . Write everything down you need to check cos you'll sure as damnit forget to look at half of the stuff if you just try and remember it off the top of your head .

be wary of the cat too they can fail before 3 years old hence a few are now failing MOTs on emissions
also look for signs of oil on the shocks as they are notorious for leaking.
Check that the brake lights come on with very little pressure on the brake pedal, if there's a delay it causes the dash to light up on occassion cause the brake pressure switch needs calibrated
