182 manifold

To be fair it will make a fair bit of the 10 PS difference between a 172 and a 182, but whether a few BHP (way less than 5%) is noticeable is debateable.

The 182 manifold offers better flow but fitted to a 172 you might loose a few bhp but gane midrange toque.

The 182 gets a bit more power over a 172 as it has a better engine map along with the exhaust.

To fit the 182 manifold you will need to remove the sub frame or the cylinder head, unless you can do the work yourself its not worth spending the money.

Your problery better off getting the car re mapped tbh.

Im fitting one to my PH1 but im taking the head off to get it ported, supertech valves and fitting 421 catcams.

thank you for your help thats made me decide lol i can do everything myself but it seems like alot of messing around really for not much gain , will stick to my original plan of ktec system decat and remap :)
thanks again hope it all goes well with yours :)

Your welcome, its going to be done over the winter. :)

its definitely worth doing if the engines coming out for something, I fitted my last one by removing the subframe as said above and its a pain in the arse but imo was still worth the hastle, I gained mid range torque and peak bhp, although that was fitted in conjunction with a ktec Decat/link pipe.

the engines coming out my 172 in a few months for a few bits and bobs to be done and ill definitely be fitting another.

I'm doing the exact same thing with my 172 but I've got a ph1 head to go on.

Sorry for the thread hijack but what porting work are you getting done, feel free to pm me :)

Andrew @ ALD in Leeds is doing it, look for P1 TOM thread his had the same thing done.

Ask -J- on here with the sliver RS2 cup, thats what happened to his car on Tour-de-force rollers.

Yep, gives a bit more mid range torque but drops a couple of BHP.

IIRC I lost 3bhp top end but gained 7lbft mid range.

That said its torque that moves the car not BHP ;) if you can fit yourself IMO it's worth fitting alongside breathing mods and a decent exhaust.

Did mine myself in a garage with some axle stands and trolley jacks, fitted a decat and stealth system at the same time.
took a touch over 5 hours start to finish, but I did heat wrap the manifold aswell.

Worth fitting to get rid of the original manifold to cat connection I reckon, real fiddly thing.

that was my main reason for changing, my cat was fubar'd and it was cheaper to get a cat made to fit the gap than to get a genuine Renault jobbie
