182 Market

Is it just me or is it just filled with dogs at the minute? Maybe I'm just being blind and abit too picky but when I bought my MCS the market seemed to have alot of really good examples knocking about.

Now I'm trying to find one I just can't seem to find anything that stands out.

True, but performance cars are a niche market so realistically should be owned by people interested in cars. I'm in no rush to buy, just thought there would be some better examples about.

I have found that problem as well when I have been looking around. Stick with it though and a gem will present itself to you soon enough like it just has to me but mine was a renaultsport clio 172. :)

Whilst I understand what you saying, I disagree. A friend of mine has been out in my RB a couple of times and is now in the market for a 182. He knows nothing about cars or even how a car engine actually works and has no interest in learning.

Really...

I know of two middle aged women who both own 'performance' cars who never drive them to there full potentially, and have no interest in cars in general. The main reason for owned them is so they look good when parked on the drive, tennis club and gym ( keeping up with the joneses)

As for there not being any decent 182s for sale, have you had a look on piston heads yet?

For example..

there def out there. trouble is no one wants to pay a premium for a good example so i think people end up holding onto them. my 182cup i sold last year was imaculate in every way apart from slight melting on the steering wheel and by far the best 182 id ever drove or been in and i struggled to shift it.

Why the switch from the MCS?

Always the way when you come to seriously looking. Just sit tight, a good one will come up.

The problem on here (most of the time) is all if not most want the best, most looked after, cheapest example around.

NO one on here ever seems to be willing to pay over the odds for what its potentially worth, the worst thing about it is the people driving down the price of Renault Sport Clio's are people attributed to this club! :(

Price isn't a sticking point at all, I've got the cash to buy a very good 197 but I'm in the market for a very mint 182. Which i appreciate this days is likely to be a rare thing.

And I never really got on with the Mini. Very capable cars, lovely place to sit but riddled with faults and poor performance/fuel economy ratio. Subsequently i barely used it. Always missed my old 1.2 so a 182 is the next logical step.

I'm in the market for a 182, Pistonhead has loads, good and bad examples. Depends what you want really, for me its the colour, lots of Blue, black and silver, but very rare on the Inferno/Ly colours. If youre in the market for a Trophy, you'll be laughing, so many examples on there, from low mileage too high and trashed examples.
To be honest, I would rather buy a clio 182 off here, they may be looked after a little better on here, plus you can check the profile of the buyer etc.

so would you buy one if it was tidy and well lookes after but it hadnt been that way somebody had got it cheap and made it mint

As stated above, if I was buying again it would be from the For Sale section on here or on the Trophy forum...

Seems to me looking on AT or PH's about 1 in 5 (ball park punt here) have had the belts done and I would want one which has had them done, and at either the dealer or a specialist on here....

They are so cheap now though I dont think they will loose much more money - if any...

I paid £6500 for my RB 182 in summer 2009
Then £4200 for my AB 182 in winter 2010

Would also want a nice colour, eith LY/RB(again) or a Trophy

I would love a Trophy, but due to a works van what ever I buy won't really get used much and it would be an incredible shame to buy one for it to be used rarely, and when it is used, just to go to the shops.

Ideally I'm looking for an RB.

And as people have said, cars for sale on here will tend to have been looked after very well.

Nah, do it. Then when you get bored in a year or so's time I'll buy it off you. :p

I agree, I don't think there is much middle ground with 182's and hot hatches in general. They are either really well cared for or totally abused.
