ok cheers will have a look guess thats what happens when you get big engine in small car not alot of room left to get at things

I used a large screwdriver, cheaper...

Remove fuel rail protector and youl have oodles of room 2 x 10mm deep socket

  Lots of Alfas
I cannot see how you would get one off with a screwdriver? Halfords sell one for about £5 that you stick on a 1/2inch drive, wrap the chain around the filter turn the socket anti clockwise and the filter loosens off.

top tip: get a load of tissues under the filter before you remove it. it will leak a bit of oil as you remove it.

You shouldnt need anything apart from your hands to unscrew the filter. When you put the new one in just tighten it by hand.

quite simple really put a screwdriver on a ridge and push down, done it many of times before. dont have to pierce it or anything just dints it in a little. Bit extreme saying itl get metal in the engine dont know how it would cause that. Still got the extra tenner to spend to ;) lool
