182 Running In Miles

  RB182cup&golf gti

1000 km according to the manual of steady drving.
most ppl on here nail it from the word go coz it creates a better piston seal.

personally i varied the revs for the first few hundred miles as in a few short acceleration bursts.

Basically dont hammer from cold, dont keep at a constant speed for a long time, ie dont use your cruise control, and dont labour the engine, ie dont climb hills in high gears where the engine is struggling to move the car.

As above 625 miles below 3.5/4k.

My dealer said it would be fine to give it some as long as it was up to temp. Remember its not just the engine your running in, but also beding in brakes and clutch.

i was told to stick to 3500rpm^^^^ horses for courses i doubt it makes much difference!

Balls to that. As long as its warm, and you dont bounce off the limiter in every gear, give it some from day one. The engines will have been tested under load before leaving.

Vary the revs and conditions etc, A-B-M roads so that the full range of the car is used. Thats what i did and people comment on how quick my little burro (172) is. Or it could be the driver.........

Just picked up my second 182 in four months, due to first one been pinched. The first one i collected and drove home 100 miles on motorway in fifth gear at about 60/70mph,the second one after some advice, i went through all gears and all road types and some moderatly fast speeds and the second one seems much better for it.Feels much faster and tick over seems smoother.

id just stick to the 600 miles 3.500 revs the guide lines are there for a reason mines not been bad and i did that lot of penoids on here who thrash them at all costs c ant see the point of damageing the car for the sake of 600 miles
