182 servicing

hands up those who go to the main dealer to get ripped. Anyone else who doesn't, if i dont wanna take my 182 to the main dealer for its 1st service and take it somewhere else,to stay within the warrenty clause, do i just have to make sure its done at a VAT registered garage and genuine renault parts used? or is there more to it??

Yep, anywhere VAT registered can service the car as long as they use the Renault parts..took mine to GDI for a Service and they did a top job..they are also specialists so they know what they are doing..under £150 all in including good oil..

5/40 oil, aint that to thin, thought it was 10/40?

where can you find out what has to be done for each service? and what oil is in the 182 from new??

10/40 is the standard used oil and the best for most uses but the lower the first number it won't hurt you can use upto 15/50 in the engine dependsing on operating climate and temps and as low as 0-30 it all depends where you live and how you use it.

I use 5/40 Silkolene Pro S....think thats what comes in the GDI service

so basically, its and oil and filter change, air filter and fluid check. Im sure the guy down the road with his own garage will do me that and stanp up the book for £90

the book time is 1.2 hrs for the service and includes quite a comprehensive check list that should be carried out as well...

As long as the garage is block exempt, it is illegal for Renault to make your warranty invalid, and if they try, just tell them this and say you'll see them in court, that'll soon change their minds.

No I wont be going to a main dealer. I've been ripped off enough in the past by these greedy b******s, who charge £100 an hour for basic work.

what is block exempt, oh and also, if you have it servoced elsewhere, how do you get the service light off???
