182 Steering issue

  Clio 182
I drove home my 182 for the first time today and as soon as I was travelling at a reasonable speed realized there is something up with the steering. I was expecting a quick and darty feel whereas I have a dead spot around the middle where there is absolutely no feel to the point of being almost dangerous at speed, add more lock and it suddenly weights up and feels normal. This is my first Clio and I don't know much about them but I know this is not how the steering is meant to feel.

I was hoping someone on here might give me some pointers as to what it might be I'm thinking that it is likely to be bushes.

I would jack each front wheel up and check for side to side movement, it could be your track rod ends are worn. I would also check for vertical movement in the wheel (hold the wheel at 12 and 6) to see if there is any play in the lower ball joint.

Thanks for the advice unfortunately my introduction to the world of Clios has not good smoothly. I went to start it before and it was only running on 3 cylinders I can't except the car like this so I'm going to see what the dealer can do for me even if it means taking my old car back,
