182 Steering whine under medium cornering load (fast road driving)

  Clio 182 FF
It may be I've finally got around to driving the car a bit harder but I appear to have quite a whine under acceleration whilst cornering at speed that is loud enough to hear over the radio whilst quite. It sounds like a gearbox or supercharger whine. Its happens very quietly when the car is first started in the mornings. I've looked at the power steering fluid and it seems quite high but not overly so, the timing & accessory belts where changed at 57k in late 2010 and the car is now on 86k so shouldn't be due for another 2 years???

Any ideas? Doesn't sound like grinding from a bearing and seems a bit louder than it should be?
