182 swap into 172

Hi
I have to replace my gearbox and possibly engine in my 172. Got a 182 I could use as a donor would this be possible? I know mine has the speed sensor on the gearbox and the 182 box wouldn't. Would I be able to use the ecu from the 182 in mine and would the speedo then work or is it not that simple.

You'd have to swap over the uch too, im not 100% sure what else but yeah, if you've got all the electrics off the 182 to use then I don't see why not.

I suspect changing ECU and UCH would need key change also to suit immobiliser.

Yeah I'd have the whole car, keys etc so all the bits will be there. Would I need to change the loom our would the 182 loom be the same as the 172?

Would it not be easier to swap your good bits over the donor? Or is it crash damaged

need to mod the wiring if you were wanting the speedo driven by abs.
