182 vs Corsa VXR

I was having a little blast with one of these last night and to be fair i didnt get much grip at start and could have got alot more but he seemed to be pulling away ever so slightly in 1st but 2nd i was catching!

Just wanted to know on any of your views on these cars and if they should be beating the 182! I think he had his mrs in car as well so that extra weight made me even more pissed off! Saying that iv got a new refurb engine in mine and done about 750 miles now so still dont think its opened up to its full potential yet! Needs belts all tightening and stuff at 1000 and oil filter changing etc! But how muich do you think my performance should be effected by this! I dont think much at all!

if his is tuned then theres no chance he'll piss all over you, standard im not sure, ask millerlight, he has one

but they are standard 196hp iirc, so dnt b too surprised, ther quick in the straights.

Stats are pretty much identical. So any win is "driver ability”

yes i spose but how do u tell if its tuned! u never can lol! bearing in mind i have a full decat powerflow exhaust and viper so that should give me a few extra horses! But what do u reckon to my performance at the moment with the engien as it is! The mechanic said bring back at 1000 miles for oil filter change and tightening of belts but would that really make that much difference?

with a bigger turbo and a remap im told you can get vxr corsas to about 260bhp (not 100% sure if tis true or not)

if its standard, like miller says, its down to the driver as the power/weights are roughly equal

yes ur prob right! figures state its 1mph and .1 second quicker in 0-60 and top speed so def driver! But what u reckon to my engine potential at moment? as i said new so not fully run in and once tightened belts and oil surely running slightly better?

my 172 felt alot more lively when it has its belts changed and was on 72K than it did when i bought it at 24k, so id exspect it to be tight.

Corsa would win in a straight line imo... my mate has one and my mini was faster slightly and my mini would do a 182 in a straight line drag

vxr should be quicker once rolling i would have thought, very torquey, should offset the weight

had a race with a mates vxr numerous times, and there is nothing at all in it even from rolling i pulled away in 3rd he closed while i was in 5th and he was very slightly pulling ahead when he was in 6th.

I mentioned i a prevoious thread that i went on a migweb drive meet over the black mountains last sunday, there was a VXR corsa there, from standing start all the way up to silly speeds there is no difference in them in a straight line i was not any faster neither was he , on the Penderyn road ( top gears test of RS focus used it ) i dropped back a couple of hundred yards to see if i could make ground on it, i caught it after about 3-4 miles. I could carry more speed through the long sweepers.

I think the A4069 is a little dangerous to be using these days, on the driving meets. Not that I go on these driving meets, but I have seen evidence of them in the form of videos on YouTube, and on here.

So have the police.

Incase you people only use the road for your jollies on the weekend, and not as an actual road to get places - I'll tell you something.

I have seen the police, using Motorbikes, VOSA and Panda cars, just hanging around up there with video cameras on tripods. On many occasions now, when I have come from Carmarthen, to Llandeilo, to Llangadog and over the mountain to see my father in Cwmgors, I have seen the authorities. In the first carpark after Tre-Cwcw haripin (the car park with the IceCream van), and also down on the Brynamman side - the lay by that has the deep trench running along side it.

They also use the roads that connect Ammanford with Morriston. (But theyve been doing that for years on that road)

But Ive seen in the local papers too, that the Police aren't happy with the way that road is used - in organised driving jollies. Monitoring forums, and YouTube videos. They agree that there is nothing illegal about using the road, but they are planning to step up measures to kerb the abuse of the road.

Yeah, Ive seen that and it put a smile on my face - got to be done. Its not a crime really - Morally.

I mean, no other traffic - the only person that could have been hurt, is the driver (but thats the risk we take everyday driving)

However, the "do-gooder" tossers of this country like to chase "we" criminals, and put a stop to this.

I had a close one with a copper in my FRP up there.
