182 wing mirrors

I have just noticed something on my 182.

On the passenger side wing mirror there is a sort of plastic nipple on the underside but on the drivers side wing mirror there is a space but no plastic nipple.

What the hell are they and is one missing from the drivers side

Temp sensor!

They are only on the passenger side!

Yup, its the sensor for the outside temperature as shown on the display in the centre of the dash.

Always wondered where the sensor was,dont see the point of a gap in the drivers mirror though.
