I can get my hands on a MK5 R32 if I want it, and I can afford it!

Hmmm, I wonder!

I love my 197 to bits, but... an R32!!

Opinions?

Has anyone driven one/owned one?

  Renaultsport Clio 197
I'd get it...
or if u're into boost get mkV gti and spend the change on getting it to 300bhp :D

Take a chance mate, if you don't like it you could always get another 197. The R32 would have to be 3dr though.

Working for Vw/Audi i dont realy appreciate them enough( big heavy lumps;))

All i can say on the matter is the mk5's were realy bad , reliability wise not nessicary the R32's

There were 2 or 3 on Bath Vw fourcourt for ages around 14 K

How come they were so unreliable?

I think it you worked at any dealership for any make of car you'd get to know faults and also feel that there are more of them!

Yeah was just thinking that, I guess People working at the renault dealerships would think clios are too, yet none of mine have had any major issues. (TOUCH WOOD)

What are the service intervals on the things then /

To be honest, i'd prefer an Edition 30 rather than an R32.
But, if I had to choose between a 197 and an R32, i'd have the one with that gorgeous sounding V6! Lovely interior too, quality car. :approve:

I think fuel economy would be an issue for me as my right foot is quite keen!

And with a sweet-sounding car like an R32 it would be rude not to!!

Not a fan of the r32 tbh but if it's what you fancy then go for it :)

Well, I work at a car supermarket and we've just taken delivery of an '07 plate blue R32. My initial reaction was "wow, I want that!!".

Although the more I think about it the more I think I should stick with what I got, I love my 197!!! :)

I owned a Leon Cupra R 225 previously and despite the VAG quality it was just plain pants IMO!!! ;)

Why do people slate MPG! The 197 is hardly Economical. May cost you an extra 15£ a wk max!!! Less if it's on long trips!

My 197's MPG is a bit of a sore spot tbh, especially as I've done 15k miles of local commuting in 12 months!!

Buying something much worse still might do serious damage to my wallet!! lol

hummm...R32 doesn't need rev'd to get the performance. But will avg about 15-20 in town. 197 will do about 20-25 in town!...So live in luxury or live with rattles. You call it son.

Drive one, you'll struggle to get into the clio again!. 15-16k gets you a good'un with Recaro's! An absolute must!

Hmm be careful what you say.

My 197 is just over 17k now, not one single problem so far, its been a great car, NO brand regardless of country of origin is without its problem regardless of reputation/built quality etc.

Also remember that time when the 197 got you between Glasgow and Aberdeen in less than three hours ;)..

IMO you'll miss the 197 but i do think there are advantages with the .:32 as well.

+1

My 16k 197 doesn't rattle at all either, but my mates '56 plate S3 does!! ;)

Tbh, if i could afford the car, id bite the bullet take the 20mpg fuel economy on the chin.

It would be worth it in every way, exhaust note, 320 newton meters of torque, 6 seconds to 60 on the Dsg. Nice gearbox, build quality awsome. etc etc etc.

Would be a pig to run tho. £400 odd a year tax, Grp 18 insurance, 29mpg if your lucky (like Ali the Scot says, twenty foor meyles to the gallan)

This ones a mint '07 plate blue 3dr mk5 R32 4motion with 19k miles for £16,499.

The car is for sale where I work so I could get a great deal on finance, only thing I'm unsure about is running costs and losing my beloved Clio!!

I think I might go by the rule of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" as I'm pretty happy with my 197 and I've slowly got it looking exactly how I want it! :)

2hrs 16mins is where its at.

  Turbo LY R27
TBH the r32 is the only car out at the moment that i would even be the slightest bit interested in trading my r27 for. Great cars and i love the v6. I like turbo cars a lot but revvy engines are my favorite. Plus you will still have loads of tourqe low down.

I think you should, i dont think the mpg would be bad tbh. Unless you hammer it. I would love one but like you i would miss the clio a lot!
