1st Mot Failed :/

  Nissan 350z
Owned my 98' Clio since November; the MOT is up on the 08/06/08 so put it in for its first MoT in my possesion and it failed on 2 points. Gutted.

Failures:
- Horn. Aparently has water in it?
- Bonnet Catch. Yeah the stereotype Clio dodgy bonnet catch strikes again!

Advisorys:
- Handbrake. Its too high or something?
- Headlight Alignment. Granted i upgraded to Dual Optics so the alignment was a "best guess" on my part on 1 dark evening.

Even though it has failed its failed on small things thank god. I had visions of faulty brakes or worn tyres costing serious £££. So every cloud has a silver lining i guess.

yeah that really isnt that bad

my clio failed its second ever MOT pathetically, costing me near £500

Not bad at all. My clio went for its first ever test and there was several advisorys. Like low brake pads which were only half used and leaking rear shocker. Bonnet cable catching and zorst rusty.

That's a pretty good failure for a 10 year old car tbf mate, simle fixes.

Did you take it to a garage or MOT centre? I'd be surprised if a garage wouldn't sort those bits and stick it through.

Most places would have fixed those and put it through! The place I used to use adjusted the hand brake and headlight adjustment everytime, didnt charge for it either.

This was a Nationwide Autocentre garage. Not my first choice by far but it was more a choice of convenience as its walking distance from work so i wouldnt have to muck around getting to and from the place.

I forgot to mention he also failed me on my Satnav holder still being stuck on the window and my MagicTree air freshner. He said this was a failure because:

"Windscreen has a sticker or other obstruction encroaching into the swept area by more than 40mm outside zone "A"

And marked it down on the failure certificate... wtf?

As said before, not bad for a car of it's age. My car is going on 8 years old and failed on 1 thing last month, keep it well maintained mate and you won't have many problems.

I thought if things were stuck to the inside of the windscreen, then it technically wasn't inhibiting the wiper area? Sounds like a bit of a hitler tester to me mate... take it elsewhere unless they'll do it for free on the 2nd occasion, as some do.

Mine failed on headlight alignment (amongst other things :quiet:) too after i upgraded to dual optics.
It was a right joke. Took it back to be retested after getting other bits done and they passed it despite me not having touched the headlights.

My clio's not been too bad for MOT's, wiper blades for the 1st one and lights for the second.

Can see the 3rd one bveing expensive for some reason.

I would take that for a fail!

Not too bad at all! Not a lot of pennies to put it right
