  Focus ST-3
Hi

I'm am looking at part exchanging my 106 gti in for a 182 that apparently has cup packs.

Here are a couple pics;

Could someone tell he if this does have the cup packs from these pics?

The cambelt and aux belt has been done, is there any other things to look out for on these cars? Any common faults that they have, anything to check apart from the norm?

Thanks in advance

Looks like it has the wheels and suspension cup pack but not the front splitter and rear spoiler cup pack.
Looks a nice example though.
You can pick up a cup spoiler on here. What mileage is it on??

Welcome to the site by the way.

Go through the log book look for a receipt for the cup packs mine was in there with what packs had been bought :)

Cup Alloys can be bought and fitted but spring rates, ride height and steering geometry won't be what u want it doesn't have exterior cup pack I.e. Splitter and rear wing which sorta says to me the other cup pack ain't there because it was Only 200 quid extra for the 2 together when they where new :S

  Focus ST-3
It's only on 44k and on a 54 plate. Didn't think it had the cup spoiler as there was no Splitter, is there anyway to tell if it has cup suspension from looking at it?

The splitters usually get taken off as they can fetch abit, check under the bumber for holes.

I am beginning to think I have a FF clio I have anthricate alloys, which usually means you have cup suspension. Also I have a bigger spoiler than it. I did some research last night after reading this thread. The anthricate alloys where put on cup packs to denote cup suspension I am not sure on the other pack.

Going to post pics later on today to get confirmation.

Still a good clio mate looks nice, skoda spiltter £12.

I was going to look at this before I got my 182 is it from Redline performance? I'm pretty sure the wheels have been added after as they look darker than normal 182 cup wheels. Also it doesn't have the cup spoiler or splitter as stated in the advert! The bloke didn't seem to know much about the cars when I spoke to him and just claimed it had everything!

Saying that it does look very tidy and the spoiler and splitter can be added easily.

Cup suspension is 5mm (maybe wrong there but it's somethin not rele noticeable by sight) lower so not rele noticeable but spring and rebound rates are changed to add more feel plus the steering is altered and mich pilot exolto tyres are added tbh if u want a full fat (182 with both packs) u want the receipt to prove it because u can make it look like the cup without the handling :S

And rele any1 in the right mind when buyin new wouldn't just buy the handling pack and not the body pack as it's only 200 quid and makes it look alot better :S

If u want that car for the miles and tidyness ect and still want the handling barter the price down by 500 quid and get some coilovers on it and it will be spot and and u have got a low miles tripod :)

500 quid won't pay 100% of the greatest coilover kits but shoils get u close to a pretty good 1 :)

dont get hung up over cup packs.

standard 1*2's run well enough, and without the cup suspension you could even use them for long journeys!

So even with looking you wouldn't be able to tell if it has cup suspension? If the car does have it is there proof of this in the log book as a previous post has said?

The log book won't state if it has cup packs or not. You need to see the receipt from the original sale which is unlikely but worth asking for.

It looks like a nice car to be honest but if you really want the cup packs I'd look elsewhere. It's been up for sale for about a month now and mint cars usually get snapped up quickly.

Yeh I know what you mean, I saw it a month ago, the guy is also the hardest bloke to get hold of aswell, but it's quite an attractive prospect being able to trade my gti in for nearly 3k. When I eventually get hold of him again I will ask about receipts etc and will just have to see. Thanks for all the help :)

i wouldnt worry too much about it, clios constantly fail mots on snapped coil springs and cheap alternitaves are put on, a lot of them out there will be like this!

turns out the black one has gone and the silver one they have has outstanding finance on it :(

but i have found another black gold 182, 38k on clock, both cup packs and a nice price tag of £3800,

I say nice as it seems cheaper than most, is this about right? it does need belts doing so i suppose that will add £500 to the price but still not too bad, right? out of interest, when do the belts NEED doing? would i be ok for a few thousand miles or would you recommend getting it done asap? anything else i should look out for when viewing this?

cheers

every 5 years or 60k, whichever is sooner.

if it's anywhere near 5 years, get them done.

oh, and you want to knock the price of the belt change off of the price of that one

  Focus ST-3
yeh already have, it was up for 4300 i think so got 500 off, which should cover all if not most of the belt change.

might be a bit more than that, cant remember, depends who does them.

Don't let any old jabroni at them though, you need a specialist.
