2 amps or 1

"hey ya" - Is it best to go for:

a) 4channel amp to power everything - front components and 1 sub?

OR

b) 2 channel amp for the comps AND a "1 channel" amp for the sub?

Or doesnt it matter??

I would go for two amps because you then can adjust of the settings on your headunit for front and rear ie you can run your rear preout with different settings to the front. I think you can set it up better that way but that just my opinion.
