2 Monitors...?

OK, seen a few rigs recently where people have 2 or more monitors on their PC's.

So, if I had 2, could I pop a DVD in the Drive, play that on one monitor whilst piddling around online with the monitor i'm on now?

GFX Card has 2 DVI outputs and PC is of decent-ish spec.

It's sounding easy then... Right - new monitor order time me thinks lol.

I'll sort a Tuner card too... then this gay 32" CRT sat behind me can GO!

I'm sure it's just that easy for PCs. I've just plugged a 24" monitor into my iMac. I'm sure you just connect two monitors into the GFX card, then set it up in Windows.

Yes you can. I'm using 2 monitors. I mostly play online games on one whilst streaming football on the other -

Lol. I'm wondering if that's an age thing? I used to play games on the PC with music coming out of the stereo at the same time. That would drive me insane if I did it now! Maybe you multi-task less, the older you get? :)

Monitor ordered - and DVB-T Card too. CRT sat aside trembling with doom lol

I have 2 but rarely use the 2nd tbh. I used to use it a lot for Lightroom and still do occasionally for Supreme Commander (one of the VERY few games that utilises 2 monitors) and that's about it.

When I'm at home I always have my 2 monitors on. Even more so when I'm doing AutoCAD stuff. Saves so much time instead of flicking between two documents.

It's good to watch iPlayer and surf forums while eating dinner too :D.

I do alot of work in 3dsMax so to have a reference image always open that I can glance at is a massive help.
Also, it is good for watching videos and browsing while eating. Multitasking FTW.

I've currently got 2 x 20"s and 1 x 27". Just managed to get hold of an identical 27" so will be switching to 2 x 27"s so I can run SLI.

i use my mac book pro screen for the internet stuff and watch tv or online videos on my external monitor its so much better for doing graphics or design work for me as i can easily drag and drop things form one screen to the next with out flicking through programs

Finally got hold of the 2nd 27" which proved a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. 2 x 27"s with 580 GTX SLI:

I'm going to be starting up my 2nd watercooled project soon, but I know it's going to end up being another money pit.

Can't be arsed with all that tbh, I prefer form over function and am not interested in extreme overclocking.

  Focus ST-3
for people using ultrmon - did you purchase it from thier site or just download from download.cnet??

I bought a Steelseries Shift and really disliked it. I had it for no more than 3 hours before taking it back and swapping it for a Sidewinder X4. You enjoying yours mate? I just felt it was too big and clumbsy, I kind of prefer "laptop" style keys. They seam more responsive for FPS gaming imo.

I bought it off their site after using the trial on a month by month basis for ages.

RE: The SteelSeries, it was the best of a bad choice tbh, I really wanted another Wireless keyboard but after lots and LOTS of research almost every keyboard I looked at had somekind of significant fault, I didn't even buy the Shift for its main feature of being able to replace the keyset, as IMHO that's a feature which is very unlikely to catch on and I've yet to see them release another keyset out of the ones already on offer. I bought it purely for the look/feel and reliability.

Couldnt live without mine, always watching tv/films on one and browsing the internet on one, only using a crappy dual DVI 256mb geforce card... just upgraded slightly to a 1gb nvidia card, running 2x 19" Acer monitors on a dual desk mount..

Display fusion is easy to get on with for dual wallpapers.

Can't stand laptop style keyboards.

Give me a solid mechanical keyboard any day.

Mechanical keyboards are awesome but you'll struggle to get one for under £80. I play a lot of CS and laptop style keys are much better when you're constantly peeking corners. Far less travel on the keys so it's much quicker and more responsive when you're playing serious games.

Yeah I don't mind paying for them. A decent mechanical gaming keyboard is just as if not more responsive than laptop style keys. While feeling a whole lot nicer.

I mean I use two different mice for different games. Both of those were virtually £100 a piece.
