2 policies on one car?

Yes it is possible, it's not illegal. The problem is that one could cancel if they found out about the other and it opens a nasty can of worms, so not practically.

no, basically i'm getting a new car soon but my existing policy doesn't run out until february and my existing insurers won't insure the new car i want.

So rather than having a car sat round to simply build up my no claims i was going to sell it and insure my mums car in my name on my existing policy and then have a policy on the new car until february until i have another years no claims.

lol does that make sense?

yeah just buy something cheep small or scrap if you have the space, transfer your existing policy onto that car or monkey bike? then with the refund you get insure your new car. If you have the space its woth it.

Yeah may have to. Its not too much of an issue.

But you can have two seperate policies on two different cars can't you?

yea basically get insurance on your mums car so that you dont lose the 9(ish) months of no cliams you have?

I didnt think it was posible as I tired to get insurance on my new car when I was going to pick it up but they guy hadnt cancelled hi old policy yet so I had to get my dad to drive it home as he is covered 3rd party on any car

yep

As mentioned tho, but something really s**t to keep on the drive for a few months. Look on ebay, you will get a non runner for under £100 lol

well my current car is a runabout really. Thing is if i shifted it now it would be easy to sell as it is taxed/motd til february where as if i have to keep it until the policy runs out its not going to be worth much as it needs a new rear bumper to pass its MOT. lol gaffer tape is gooooood.
