2 Questions for you...

  AB182, Audi A5 3.0
Hi All! This is my first post on here, so its a BIG HI! lol. iv got 2 questions that some of you might be able to answer for me....

1. i have a 1997 1.2 clio with the d-type engine. Its big ends went about a week ago, so im looking for new engine. I was wondering which engines would fit in my little car, and would i have to change ECU/EMU? Would they fit 100% to the old gearbox?

2. I would like to lower the back of my car by 30 to 60mm, do i need new springs or is there another way?

Hope someone can help!

Laterz :)

Hallo!

Not sure on 1) but the biggest engines fit in whichever model shell you have  If you have a bit of wedge to spend (like £000s) J3ned on here can sort you a 172 conversion!)

2) Rear of the Clios is a Torsion bar that needs to be removed, turned by one or two splines then replaced (I think?) to get that sort of drop.

But I may be wrong... lol :D

I'm assuming you have a Mk1 as the Mk2 only came out later on.

Regardless any engine will fit the 172 needs to have custom mounts or a very very big bulge or individual throttle bodies to make it fit.
So long as you have all the bits you can swop with any engine though. You'd need ECu wiring looms radiator (as applicable) etc.
Torsion bar at the back as white16valver said.

Ok i see, so i cant just change engine without changing all the otherbits basically (unless its same engine). kk thanks for help!

you could put in another 1.2, or a 1.4, a 1.8 rsi engine without too much work. with a little more work you could gor 1.8 16v or a williams lump
