2 Questions - Probs With My Valver

1) The other day i washed my car and then when i drove it off it was fine. But when i drove it off in the morning i noticed there was water leaking through , but not from the sunroof , the bit where the central looking bit is next to the bit with the eletric sunroof button is. Thought nothing off it at 1st then when i parked up i put my alarm on (standard) and it went off as i was walking down the steet , and i come back re-alarmed it and it went off again , once i cleaned out the water it was fine........any ideas?

2) Started my car this morning and it was very jerky i wasnt moving i just started it up and it was jerking all over the place , i was actuly moving in my seat , whats that all about? when i started to drive off it was fine....

not sure about the second point mate, how cold was it when you started her up? mine is really rough when its cold.

the first part sounds like the seal on your aerial is leaking, this happened to me with my valver. your interior light cover fills with water?

you can get a new aerial from renault for about £8 i think, you just need the rubber seal but your aswell buying the whole package.

tis a bee sting ariel mate so i will look into it , plus yea it was cold when i started it so ill just keep an eye on it

Open the centre console up so you can see the arial bolt from inside, and just seal it there!

First point will be down to water leaking in through the aerial hole, a seal on the sunroof leaking or the sunroof working slightly loose. Until you get it fixed id remove the central locking reciever in the roof console as the water will corrode the connections on the circuit board.

Second point sounds like it may be water related as well - you can get a water replant for electrical connections so might be worth coating your engine bay cabling etc with that?

Was it a pressure washer you were using btw?

ive got the bee sting style on my car so i just bought the whole unit adn replaced the rubber seal. piece of cake man

Could still be the main sunroof seal though. Mine leaked in through the roof console as well. (in the last downpour it came over the tops of the A-pillar covers!)

Try the smallest thing first though which would be the aerial as taking the sunroof out to reseal the roof seal is a ballache.

either sunroof frame seal or the aerial base. the interior sunroof trim pulls off and the interior light assembly is easy to remove so have a look to see where its coming from.

the second point might be a engine misfire when cold. have a look at the dizzy cap etc.

The sunroof is more likely to leak than the ariel as it can hold a fair amount of water.
