2003 Mini Cooper S - Just £2999

I've made it the cheapest on pistonheads because of the imperfections. To be fair most the others will have similar problems they just usually don't mention them til you turn up.

handle well though, I was thinking of buying it off my brother and ditching my 182 track car. Would make a cheap track toy.

Not to try and sabotage a sale, but buying an R53 with anything but extensive specialist history is...

...you'd have to be a seriously brave man.

Brave? It's only £3k lol.

I take it you have no first hand experience of Mini part prices?

It's probably a very clean cared for car, but I wouldn't touch one that hasn't been extensively looked after with history to back it up. Personal preference.

To be honest I've found mini quite reasonable. New dipstick was only £16.40, Header tank cap was £6
Wheel bearings are expensive but then so are Renault. Same with exhausts.

Having recently bought a pair of inlet gaskets for my 182...
BMW are cheaper for theirs http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=RE32&mospid=48020&btnr=11_3391&hg=11&fg=40

I hope that last post was sarcastic.

If not, I'm out. Good luck with the sale!

Great cars, I had an R53 JCW with 210bhp before my current Cup.

Parts prices can be steep, my clutch and dual mass flywheel disintegrated at 30,000 miles. Still in warranty but BMW said it was my driving style..... I'm 45 years old and have owned almost 40 cars, never before have I worn a clutch out. Anyway I digress, it cost me over a grand and that was at a reduced rate as good will from BMW, should have been about £2.5k for parts and labour!

Valeo, that make the oem DMF have since made a single piece flywheel due to a high failure rate. Info from Valeo's own website.

I loved mine though, they do handle well and sound out of this world with the supercharger whining.

^
well it was cheaper for us to have a new pads, disc's all round and the same as a clio's 12k service and it cost quite abit less than it would of for the same on my cup.. also weve had no problem with ours other than a knacker rear calliper in the past 12 month's + that weve had it

I wouldn't touch one full stop.Although in fairness, the R53 is better built than the R56 I owned, and has a more characterful engine.
