2004 Cup Packed Petrol Blue 182!

  Flamer Barn Find
Update from this weekend.

The weekend didn't get off to a productive start - had to take the Mrs and her mates to the airport and had to empty my car out into the garage. Took me 30 minutes to empty the car but 2 hours to pack it back up again.
Everything emptied into the garage

Car packed back up again - that's better!

Once the car was packed up it was time to start trying to make some progress with the Clio.

Brand new genuine engine mount with Powerflex insert.

Then a 'fatty style' induction kit with the generic filter the car came with. I'll be ordering a pipercross cone filter but for now this one will do.

Bosch aerotwins fitted.

Real deal carbon washer blanks fitted.

Mudflaps removed. Unsure why these were even fitted - they're just far more likely to cause corrosion with all the shite they'll hold behind them.

Pollen filter changed - the old one was filthy, and also the wrong way around in the heater box.

Then when I was looking under the car I realised when I had refitted the shocks I had put them the wrong way round - the ABS sensor brackets were on the opposite sides - changed these around so they're right.

This morning I fitted the new exhaust I have had lying around since I bought the car - a Milltek cat back and Milltek Decat pipe. I also had 2 x powerflex rear exhaust mount to fit. They're a bloody pain to get into the exhaust brackets - ended up using a bit of unistrut, a bolt and a big washer to push them in - it worked perfectly!! The exhaust needs a little bit of adjustment but i'm going to get it up on my mates ramps in the next couple of weeks to get it aligned perfectly. it's hard to do when you're on your back in the garage.

Flushed the coolant with water and then refilled with genuine type D antifreeze. Bled the system and all was well - ready for a test drive.
Filled the car up with petrol a the local Shell without any real issues, let it warm up and then on the way back home, attempted a 3rd gear pull to quite high up the rev range. I heard a bang and then looked in my rear mirror to see a cloud of what I thought was smoke behind me. Pulled in and it turns out i'd left a bloody jubilee clip loose on the back of the thermostat and i'd lost all my coolant. Luckily I had just bought a couple of bottles of water from the petrol station - reattached the pipe, tightened the jubilee clip and drove home to refill with more Type D coolant.

a quick photo when I pulled in after losing all coolant...

That's about it from this weekend - I have just tried my new wheels on which look excellent ;)

I've done around 150 miles today - i'm going to drop the oil after 300 miles and refill with some proper Renault oil.

Bit of an update - Haven't really been into the car recently - actually put it up for sale on Friday.

Took it for a drive today and polished it and realised i'd be stupid to sell it.

Potentially looking to do something big to the engine over the next 6 months, looking at FI....

Few photos from the last few times i've used the car.
