Just curious...

I have an 09 plate 197 cup - I know they introduced the 200 in 09 so it must be one of the last ones - is there a way to find how just how close to the last one it was?

NO. is the answer-

As its all meaningless- the date of registration has no bearing to the date it was built.
So infact you may be in a 2008 car that was registered 2009.

the date of build is the most important thing, however is still pretty meaningless-
