205 wide on standard alloys

iv been reading a lot of tyre threads and im i right in beliveing that you can get a
205/45/R16
tyre on a standard 172 16" rim?

or are they restricted to a 195 tyre?

no all 7j wide so 195 or 205 fit the same and you'll get a little more lip protection with the 205 too
Had both sizes on mine

no they appear to be fine with 205s! just something to do with the cup 172 suspension setup

It will be dropped on H&R coilovers very shortly, but plan to keep running 195's for the time being, just wanted to know for future reference.

Tbh mate when mine had the 205s on it felt over tyred if you no what i mean,a bit heavier on the steering but feels better now with 195s on

id go for a 195 anyway....205 'look' too wide imo for the wheel even though they fit

Thats useful to know, i may order them when my front a539's wear out (which will be soon)
