215 to 225 Tyre Width?

Think they are 7j wide and run 215's as standard just wondering if there is any advantage or problems moving up to 225?

I'm not a fan of larger sidewall so i'll maybe stick with 215/40/17 but considering my options before buying.

I'm due to order 4 in the next few weeks. My tyres are Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's. They've been on the car for around 3 years now and still have 5mm or tread left (crazy wear rate)

But the actually tyre is old now so the compound isn't as tight as it was.

Almost unheard of in today's world where the tread outlasts the tyre!

That´s why i told you! Personally i would stick with the 215s which are already quite wide for a 7.5j. 225 could become a bit "ballony". You don´t want your FRP look like a monster-truck, right!?

Stick with 215. I moved from 195 to 205 and I honestly think the walls are a bit sloppy now. IM going to go back to 195 if I have to replace them in the next year which im sure I will.

Also what tyre you after?

Can you get the F1 Asymmetrics?

Not sure when, but im sure they changed the manufacturer of the GSD3 and theyre ment to be a bit w**k now. The F1 Asymmetric is a decent tyre.

Thanks guys wasn't sure.

215 it is. I can't find the asymmetric 2's in my size mate so going for Vredestein Sessantas like the FRS mk2 boys.

I was looking at Conti 5's aswell but again can't get them in my size.

When they designed the fancy fiesta tyre sizes would have been a massive factor so 215s is the choice of win, do they do the Federals in your size they seem to be getting some great reviews.

I wouldn't put them on my car mate. I'll stick to tried and tested. :)

They are cheap enough for you to try and test;). I know what you're saying though I hadn't even heard of them until last week

I'm not worried on Price tbh. The Vredesteins just happen to be a decent price and seem to be a very good tyre. :)

The Vredesteins get a fantastic review from most people I talk too especially in the wet.

I'm actually a dry tyre type guy (yoko paradas on my last Puma) I drive like a girl in the wet. Working in the Repair industry slows you down a lot on the orad. Well it did to me anyway when I was younger seeing cars come in covered in blood with the engine touching the boot. Not nice.

I'm not adverse to pressing on in the dry though on the right road in the right conditions. :)

I'm really looking forward to getting some new tyres on the car. Especially after replacing the suspension not long ago. :)

After seeing people die after a crash in the rain that myself only narrowly missed I like to know I have capable tyres for the rain regardless of how quick I drive tbh.

Ype the FRP should be pretty epic with fresh everything, you changed the ARBs on it aswell?

Drop links and arb/bushes are in the garage mate. Be fitted soon. I couldn't get any when I fitted the struts/springs/bushes ect...

It felt like a new car with the new struts and springs/bushes fitted so tyres and the other parts so transform it again.

Since the start of this summer you could feel the difference in the tyres compared with last year, they also had a mental winter with feets of snow to deal with and terrible roads after so their time is up.

Just the turn in is less sharp although they don't understeer there's a noticeable different.

I spoke to a guy who owns a Noble M12 with those tyres. He rekons theyre okay in the dry but nothing to shout about, brilliant in the wet and s**t for track use. Not that thats anything to go by.

Do they do the V12 or RS2 in your size?

My V12's are good in the dry (maybe a bit sloppy when really pushing it) but shite in the wet. I think Ill be having a set of RS2s next. Unless im in a BMW 1 Coupe, in which case itll be out with the run flats and in with the F1 Asymmetrics.

I'm guessing they are more worn on the outside then?

A little on the edge from hard cornering but perfectly even across the tread. Like I said they still have 4/5mm left on each tyre.

The noble on Vredesteins?

I don't want V12's I'd rather put something else on instead. Or go back to Goodyears.
