cos your female! ;)

most dealers insurance has now gone up to 25 yrs from 21 years, I couldn't even test a bike at a dealers so told him I'm not gonna buy a 4k bike without knowing if I like it. I can see them losing a lot of sales now.

I think you have to act in a manner which suggests you've already bought the car your just finalising your research to ensure the cars right for you.

The sales team dont want to have their time wasted nor do they want the car ragged all over nothing.

I've test driven quite a few cars such as a JCW MINI and the 197 etc due to my purchases of the S and 182

When 19 i went to a MINI dealer that said "your too young son! you can drive the mini one and see what thats like".... fecking cheek im there with 16k ready to spend and they want to take me out in a bottom of the line model (£9k) i said fine you obviously dont want my money and looked to see if they wanted to do change their response they said they couldnt so i promptly walked away, plently of dealers around....

You got to come across like you mean business otherwise they wont see the oportunity in you and wont take the risk?

I work for a Mini dealership and ive taken people out before who have literally just said thanks after thrashing the balls off a cooper S and walked away. Problem is we cant be too careful because if we throw away business then we get a mouthful from the gaffer! So we generally dont refuse test drives unless its blatantly obvious they aint interested, for example a 17 year old wanting a test drive in a GP or something. So no reason why anyone should refuse you if you mean business. Ask if its company policy for an age restriction on test drives, if they say yes, then ask to see it and if theyre lyeing then you got one up on them, if not then fair does go to another dealership.

Sounds exactly like what I did when I test drove a 197. Although I also got them to value my 172 up for me before leaving.

At the dealership I went to, you had to be 21 to test drive a 197, but they didn't ask my age or even want to see my license or any ID!

197 test drive is nothing to get excited about. mine was fairly dull tbh. bit of a shame as the car is absolutely gorgeous.

Had to be over 30 to test drive the V6 from Renault @ Manchester. Even then, we were the 'exception' to the rule in test driving it. I guess cars like that attract a lot of test pilots.

Lucky I'm an old fart, eh? ;)
