27" Thunderbolt Display + Macbook Air

Thinking of becoming a baller and getting the 27" a bit earlier.

Now my assumption of it is that I can come into the office, connect my macbook up to it then it just comes on automatically with whatever my macbook is doing, is this correct?!
Also going to get a keyboard, so I can just stick the laptop to one side and leave it at that and use the screen when in the office.

Can I leave the macbook closed or does it need to be open?

Can get a nice discount at work, so around £608 for a spanker

Yep you can leave it closed and it works fine. My Dad has this set up, uses the BookArc stand.

Will be perfect for CAD work, the 13" screen is a little bit small.

You just have to put the Air into clamshell mode. Will be a nice setup.
