2nd Black 1.2
Been On here for a year and a bit, thought id get round to writing a little project. Mostly of my new Clio, but will post what i started with and what i learned from (everyone needs it, dont worry, no bodykits chavness etc)
anyway, couple months before i passed my driving test, i went ahead and bought this little (piece of w***) motor
a 51plate 1.1 8v Authentique, was an okay base to start with, couple trolly dings and was used by a horse trainer/rider so the seats looked like she shat herself and all crevices were howling, therefor i wanted in lovely and clean. so bought a Karcher and started to really love cleaning my pride and joy..
im sure you all done the same with youu power washer
alloys first went on, wanted black and red theme so done this, seen similar on a Cupra forum with black and yellow so tried to copy.
inside
with tyre shiiine
Lovely snap of the 'bay
SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES.
after a few months of pottering around with paint, getting bumped on here for door cards which i didn't receive, and a LOT of breakdowns, the end result was this.
this car basically taught me how to drive. used it as a project to learn how to clean and wax properly. so for that i thank it.
Then it failed its MOT. so much so the car was worth less than the bill. (handbrake, PAS, airbag light, emissions, a few others i cant remember :s)
but i knew i was going to need a new car soon and it was either get a Gordini/Trophy as insurance was the same as the 1.1, or another 1.1/1.2 for £700 insurance.
trip to glasgow and bought this
for £1500, 70k miles (50k less than the last) with a years MOT, thought it was a good find!
got home safe after first time on a motor way
Knew i was getting the car that weekend, so literally that night.. this happened.
first was the RS grill got transferred from old to new
had ordered silvervisions,
didnt think theyd make alot of difference but wow it looks so much better!
as the bonnet was open, the engine bay was manky so have that a general clean, just to make myself feel better!
then the radio got transferred as i drove for 3 hours in silence due to no radio code. :dapprove:
clips in.
***NOTE DO NOT FORGET THIS***
out
in
and finnaly for the first night, the TypeR arieal.
then the sunday, the budgeters way of colour coding plastics! gloss black wrap (prepares for slating..)
incase anyones having trouble.. this is what i done.
get a flathead screw driver and cover it in tape to protect your paint.
and a nice thick old wire, from your PS2 or something.
prise out the edge
then put the wire in the gap
and pull in the opposite direction from the end of the car the protector is on, should pop right off. repeat for the other three
then i wrapped, done my dash plastics 'case they were faded where people had turned the key.
wrapped against non wrapped.
they went on. and look so much better than a s*** grey.
and got my cut plate to fill the recess.
Painted my apillars to match the car a bit more
better than cream..
Nipped to the shops and bought myself some Osram 90% headlights cause i seen amazing reviews on here.
and then it was wash an detail time.
treated myself to this, smells amaaazing.
two bucket method.
snowfoam (help here, not as creamy as i want :dapprove
Forgot to close my window
just kidding, its interior cleaner
after a machine polish and a good snooze, i woke up to rain, and got these nice pics of beadage
even beadage on the sunroof (thanks to Rain-X)
bonnet
ordered FK springs from a guy on here (50mm)
boxed
whilst being done
Std alloys off
and old painted ones on, only because i have 500mile old TOYOs on the painteds and it budgets on the standards.
quick pics once lowering was done cause i was in a rush
Front-
rear -
and of course, my old car, how it stands just now in my drive way.
all jacked up with no wheels
thats it for now, i have a KTec back box on the way and going to new exh. pipes fitted from the local Tuning shop.
Dont worry those alloys will be coming off in the near future, looking into getting lensos (fake bbs almost)
and thinking on a black with hints of yellow colour scheme.
thanks for reading and of course, comments welcome!
