2nd Gear stick on Cup

Anyone noticed problems in 2nd gear on the cup. Only on 1450 miles but have now twice recently had the 2nd to 3rd gear change hamperred by the gear sticking in second. Only does it occasionally and i am hoping its just the tolerances being new and it will settle. Just wondered if anyone else noticed this.

Also seems to want to pull to the left on the slightest camber and found 2 handed driving defenitely the best.

Mine does the same m8. I originally thought it was was the gear box, but I now think its the clutch. When I put the clutch in but didnt change gear, it was as if I hadnt touched it and it was still in gear. Im going to leave another month or so, then Ill take it to renault and get them to sort it.

yeah thats what i got it just screamed its head off and i had to re dip the clutch to change, how old is yours?? I too am gonna see if it goes and if not take it in.

10 weeks m8. When I took it in, I said it was a prob with the gearbox. They probably just wiggled the gearstick and left it at that!

How are you enjoying yer Cup m8. What mileage are you on? Where abouts are you? ermm...think thats enough questions for now lol

sounds like exactly the same thing i had with my 172. took it to the dealership and they said I have an oil leak in my 2nd and 3rd gear "selectors" (or something to that effect - im not a great mechanic). Before that I had missed quite a few gear changes into 2nd and third under pressure.

take it down and see what they think.

on 1450 miles at the moment and stay in aberdeen, really happy with it part from the gear change problem and its only happened twice, will give it a bit of time and see if it goes, if not i will have to go to one of the two utterly crap reg vardy dealers, oh no fear the worst, they couldnt even fit the right battery to my williams before!!

me tooooo!!

mine sticks in 1st and 2nd when trying to change just before the limiter, its defo the clutch not disengaging as the revs drop right off even though the clutch is in.

Im at 4500 miles now.

So anyone any Idea exactly what is to blame????

I think you will find it will stop soon, however thinking about it now mine goes in straight away but then It doesnt engage straight away in third, like the clutch is slipping or something

yip visceral its getting it out of the gear its in, rarity but just wondered if anyone else had same probs.

Hopefully will go

Yup same problem here too on my 172! problem shifting from 2nd to 3rd at high revs - sticks in 2nd. did it twice on the way to work today grrr. ive only just done over 1000 miles so hopefully it will stop happening!!

Anyone from Renault got any ideas??????????

perhaps we should organise a mass warranty claim trip to a central dealership - LOL

My MK2 172 sticked in 2nd when new. I have now about 3200 miles on it and I didnt notice the problem anymore. I think it was the clutch having problems at high revs. For instance, Ive put the car in 1st, clutch pedal to the floor, rev to 7000, the car tends to move, the clutch engages a bit. So, probably, a problem with the clutch disengaging at high revs, close to the limiter. However, as I said, problems seemed to have disappeared.
