3/4 Plate on 200

Bumpage... Was going to ask this again, but realised ive already made a thread on this.

Opinions on doing this?

Might measure up for this tomorrow as I want to get rid of the dealer plates that are currently on the car.

Pointless as the only reason to do it on a 1"2 is the fact it over hung the bumper, but the reccess on the 200 is full size.

This is it atm (old picture):

Its got like a black band at the bottom with the dealer website on, which is what I want rid of. But I thought maybe slightly smaller than standard so that there is an equal gap of black bumper around the plate, if that makes sense.

If it was me - I'd get a plate exactly the same size (obviously minus the black strip along the bottom). I reckon it looks better if it completely fills the recess, without hanging down over the lower grill (i.e. I agree with the others above).

I think a smaller plate on the 200 would should 'pull me' to the police whereas it is not as noticeable on the old 1*2's

I think a smaller plate may look good though!

Just losing the black plate at the bottom will make it look loads better, no need for smaller plate, it allready fills the recess as said above

Thats what im thinking, it would look good.
I wouldnt have it too small. Id want it bigger than the 90mm size that all the 1*2 owners have, but still slightly smaller than standard, so it wouldnt really be 'that' noticeable.

^ Only thing wrong with that is that they're screwed in. Ill be doing mine with velcro as it'll look smoother and then can easily take them off.

Just spotted this over on clio197.net:

I like!

Just for info. 101mm is the minimum height that is still legal (i.e. 79mm characters with 11mm border above and below), obviously so long as everything else about it is still legal. A standard size plate is ususally around 110/111/112mm high.............but I still reckon a plate that fills the recess looks better - to each their own. :)

Go to pro plates and order front and backs completly plain, no logos no screws no postcodes.

Clean FTW!

Could someone potentially PS some different sizes on it please?!? Just put RS60 POO as the plate for examples sake.

I measured up. I think 95-98mm in height would look great. Only 1-1.5cm less in height than my current plate, but I think it'll look a tad better. (Keeping the same sized length)

Update: Smaller plate fitted. I went with 520 x 95mm (as opposed to standard of 520 x 111mm)

I think it works pretty well.

Now, another question. I havent sorted the rear plate yet. Keep it standard sized, but get a plain one? Or have another which is slightly smaller than standard (bigger than the front, but still slightly smaller)? I have a feeling that it may work well, aslong as it isnt too small.

EDIT: Picture of the rear:

Fancyplates matey. Went for 95mm height, for reference.

Kinda wished I had tried a slightly small width looking at that pic... Maybe 500mm, instead of 520mm (taking 1cm off each side).

Changed my mind - I like it. Seems like an equal gap to the left, right and above, can't honestly tell what it looks like at the bottom as it's lost in the blackness. Sometimes it is best just to do your own thing and ignore the negatives. And it's not like you'd have wasted loads of cash if it hadn't worked. Also, I reckon you went for the right size - same width but lower in height is a better proportion, makes the front end look lower and more aggressive.

Oh, and for the rear - how about standard width and whatever height gives the same gap all round between the edge of the plate and the edge of the recess? (although any lower in height than the front plate may look odd).

I was thinking standard width and around 100mm tbh, as then it is pretty much (bar 1mm) on the legal limit and it is bigger than the front plate still.
I wont be going any smaller than the front. Definitely needs to be bigger. Ill have to do some measuring up tbh.

And thanks for your prior post, im glad I ignored you lot and went with it now ;)
LOL at whoever found this page by googling "what is 34 of 200"!
WTF roflcopter.
