At almost bang on 3000rpm, I can get a rattle going from what sounds like front left corner. If I accelerate through at low load, no rattle. If I accelerate through at high load, the rattle comes in at 3000rpm and stays until I reduce load / lift off. This makes me think it is a strategy of some sort, rather than something mechanical. VVT kicks in at a higher rpm I believe, so unlikely to be that. Performance is fine. Nothing else to note.
The car had an after market induction kit which I wanted rid of. Just put a standard air box in but the noise is still there. Could it be a faulty acoustic valve? These must be actuated under high load and 3000rpm upwards seems sensible for the valve. Anyone know when the valve opens, or any ideas as to the rattle?
