32" 1080p TV's

Then what's the point of making them. Reason I ask is Sony have binned their top 32" D3000 model with 100Hz. The nearest replacement is going to be the W4000 which is 1080p and 24p True Cinema. Would it be better?
I was going to get the D but cannot get hold of one. Just wondered if it would actually be worth waiting for this in June or just getting the current S series. I already have a previous generation S and am very pleased with it so the current one can only be better I guess with the better backlight and image processor, cheaper than a D/W too.

S series are like retail sector though...proper budget.
Perhaps technology has moved on a bit since but when i got my 40W2000 the S series was shite by compairson.
I would always go for the latest model mate, W4000 will be epic! although to get a W series for a 32" seems a bit silly? why not look at slightly larger?

S series are not retail sector though they are mid range. That is the U series, then the P series, then S, then V/D, then W. Also the S doesn't come as 1080p so the W will look great next to it. The 40W2000 is first generation Bravia, still looks fantastic though.
Reason is A) budget and B) room. I can get the new 40D3500 for a very good price which although isn't 100Hz it is 1080p so would be on a par with your W by now. I just think it will be too big. Just bought a new notebook and have a baby due next week so this will be the final spend!

well i spent a lot on my main display. but for the bedroom i got a £350 32" job with native 720p display 2 year warranty, and honestly it's fantastic, easily keeps up with my sony for regular ang HD stuff. might be worth tihnking of a cheaper option as sony are quite over priced...as you know.

Tbh I'd want a 1080p just to have the 1920x1080 resolution. I know there wont be huge differences between 720p and 1080p on a 32" but since non-1080p TVs come in 1366x768 res, 720p is upscaled. 1080p TV with a 1080i or 1080p wont need scaling so should be a slighly cleaner pic.

Iv just got a new 32" Samsung, HD ready flatscreen, 7000:1 contrast with gamemode etc for my wall in my bedroom and to be quite frank i cant have an eye for a good picture as cant really tell much difference when compared to my old 32" Panasonic!!!
Can anybody really tell the difference between these HD tv's and boggo ones whether it be when watching normal TV or when using your PS3's, 360's etc??

No 37" 1080p Bravia although that would be ideal. Think I may stick to 32" if it really is that minimal at that size then. Just don't see the point of 1080p 32". I guess it's only progression to get the most tech you can into something.
I saw the U, P, S and D lined up with the same thing running through. There was a difference although minimal. Mainly crisper colours more than image.

tosh z series does 1080p 100hz hdmi 1.3 and 24fps (5:5 pulldown)
how can you say sony are overpriced when you can get a 40" 1080p with 3 hdmi for £665!

Been looking at the sony's myself and the range do have quite a bit of difference, the engines are not the same, especially the number of colours each can handle etc.
THe new one has a X media bar like the PS3 and can act like a picture frame showing a built in image or off a memory card.
i can't for the life of me spot what the difference is between the above tv and the W version though, the V at that price is a steal though IMO, great TV for the money!
Oh and I was talking to my SOny rep the other day and he was telling me that they get crap discount off sony products and can buy them cheaper off the internet.
the x series is 1080p and 100 hz though isn't it?

I've always checked first and never found that to be true. The 40" V and D are great entry 1080p TV's comparable to the first gen W that David has. Well worth the money. I always find Sony TV's colour processors better than most even on budget or mid range and that is not being biased. Only the best Samsung, Pana etc can match. That is what you pay for. People will argue but until you see them side by side with a good HD signal through you can't compare.

saw 2 big old tv's in comet a while ago. One running 1080p and one 720p/1080i side by side, now there was a difference. But they were both immense, crisp pictures. 1080p was a bit better. At 32" (the size I've got) I think 1080p would be overkill, prob still the same on 37. 40" would be nice tho with 1080p.
If I was buying now I'd go for 37", I love my PS3 and my tech stuff, but 40" is a big old lump in the living room. Saying that it would be nice to have 1080p for blu ray....

I've got a 27" 1080p screen and it's a fairly obvious difference between 720p and 1080p on it.
i don't think such a tv exists, sure you don't mean 37"?

I run Sky HD, XBox 360 and my PC through it and can set the resolutions on all.

ah now you see, this is where a computer monitor will differ, they have a native resolution and if you do do down from that it will be s**t, thats not really the same thing as having two native resolution 32" tv running at 720p and 1080p, you can't compare the two.
running a 1080p at 720 would not look as good on a 32" tv as a 720p tv running 720p as they are designed to run at their native resolution, but we are not talking about that here, we are talking about which native reolution to buy, so a 27" or a 24 " monitor are going to have a higher reolution than 1080 anyway, so bringing it down to 720 is bound to look worse, not the same comparison as we have at the top of the thread though.
