32" 1080p

I'm after a TV for my home office, I'm wanting a 32" 1080p but didn't really want to spend more than £400, but that looks like a bit of a mission, as most seem to be around £500 if not more. Do you reckon I could pick one up nearer to the money in the January sales?

Just put a post up myself, man in comet reckons there is not much point in 1080 unless your going above 37"

I was thinking 37" but looking at them in the stores 37" is too big for my room, 32" is a big as I can go, I've got this one arriving this evening for the gf's mum so will have a look at that first:

But I'm ideally wanting 1080p as it will be used for consoles and dvds most.

IMO, you don't need a 1080p on a 32", you won't see the difference between 720p and 1080p on a screen that size.

yes, but as said it was £399 with 5 year warranty. Wish I had got one for myself now.

yeah that's what puts me off, the Sony's don't look good, Samsungs are much nicer (I have a 42" Plasma downstairs). The Sony hasn't arrived yet, but can take some pics when it does.

A friend of mine bought a broken one off ebay for £50, took it home and then dropped it in the living room and claimed on the house insurance. Had to pay a £50 excess so £100 in all. (of course this is classed as insurance fraud and I don't recommend it as I am an insurance advisor and if caught you could get seriously done!)

LG 32" LCD £400

Sony 32" LCD £400

Samsung 32" LCD £400(Although this is a 4 series)

well, I'd rather not pay over £400, but I'm not limited on cash, it just seems a bit crazy to spend more than £400 on a TV of that size.

I got one of them from work (pc world) this week. Was on offer at £399 with a free Sony HD 5.1 cinema kit. Bargain! especially with my 10% discount taken off.

Picture quality of the 4000 sony is top notch. 30000/1 contrast against Samsung 4 series 10000/1. More than happy with mine. recommended, although only 720p/1080i... but like has been mentioned, 1080p isnt really needed on 32". Saying that, you can see the difference!

Nothing is wrong with it, but if you can stretch to a 5 series or better than do.

Tbh, contrast ratios stated in the specs are the MAX the set will reach. A TV may hit this level once or twice in it's life time. Contrast ratio isn't a key factor to use to compare sets.

The best way to choose a new TV, is to go instore and compare. You'll be surprised that sometimes the cheaper TV's are better in quality than a set £500 dearer.

Yeah i know, but i just think its a huge step from early last year where 4000/1 was considered good.

anyone buying a tv from empire direct use EQ5122 before monday for 10% off.

Also, don't buy a tv based on the contrast figure quoted as its always a dynamic contrast and not a proper true contrast, and most people find the tv pic is better without the dynamic contrast even turned on.

Save that 300 and make it 3,000 for when the OLED comes out
