335i is turbo'd but it takes all the character out of the engine IMO

Nought wrong with the 4 pot diesel making that sexy noise.

It's arguable though, much cheaper tax/insurance, way more MPG and it wasn't far off in performance when I had one - it was pumping out 210 bhp and around 320 lb-ft and it certainly didn't drive like a turbo'd car the power delivery was very smooth across the rev range.

Had an E36 328i thanks.

The 320D E91 remapped was better to drive, only thing the E36 beat it on was the sound and looks imo.
