36k Service = £225?

I'm sure the 36k service includes the aux belt doesn't it?

A dealer has just quoted £225 for my £36k service 'if' it has air-con and says the belt doesn't need changing. WTF?

Am I losing the plot or is this just the last dance for my Clio that 100% seals the deal for moving away from Renault?

they're 100% incorrect, sounds like they've quoted for just a minor "A" service

you need the A+B (minor service plus aux belt)

Cheers Fred that's exactly what I thought. TBH I'm tempted to let them do it just to get the stamp and part-ex it in and order the Honda. Staggeringly bad. Again.

^ Gemini knew the score when I phone and wanted £400+, St Helens also knew the score and wanted £500+

I will be going to Rentech though :)

^ Yep very true but I would rather have the work done correctly and Mike has a very good rep, why line the dealerships pockets !!

When are you going Maz? I need to book my car very soon... It's a bloody long drive but still works out cheaper! Plus Rentech is a Renault trade partner :) I was thinking of Yozza but they are £100 more and i'm sure they do the same work? Correct me if i'm mistaken...

Well said

I'll be making the trip down there for my cambelt in October even though it's probably a 1.5 hour drive.

I'm going to Rentech for my 36k service in a few weeks even though its a 4½ hour round trip for me, I'd rather give it to someone who knows what they're doing !

I think I will be going to Rentech also from the same area as you so 4 1/2 hours does not sound has bad as i thought it would be

If thats the case then how was i quoted between 200 and 230 odd coins for a 24k service at different Renault garages. :S

Iv manged to get one for £176 so im not taken them up om them prices but even so theres still not that much difference in the price you've been quoted on a 36k.

The service on my Cup is £175 all in at Rentech as it doesn't have air con. Good price I think.

theres nothing much extra on the 36k other than a few more checks and road test. (other than the belt)

I did what you are thinking of Roy.. let them service it, it had loads of warranty left on it. It would be there incompetence if it failed. Wouldnt have risked it if i was near the warrantly end, but still had 18mths on my warranty.

^^^I thought the belt alone was like 100's to get sorted though mate or are we talking a different belt to the one im thinking of??

I know when i was getting quotes on my old valver i was looking at between 300-500 just for the cambelt.

Could you not get the service done at a renualt dealer if you really want to keep the stamps for your history and have the auxilery belt done somewhere else?

Probably is alot of extra hassle but you could have the renualt stamp then..

What I dont understand is why renualt say it doesnt need doing when clearly it seems that it does from the feedback through cliosport?

Is it more of a precautionary thing to have done at 36k?

When do renault say to have it changed then, if not at 36k?

Rob.

^ Why would you Roy pay an extra £200 for a Renault stamp?

If I was buying a used 182 with full Renault history it would say to me that the work somewhere along the line must of been bodged!

I imagine that alot of people who dont use this site would rather have a full renault service history, and people who look to buy these, again who dont use this site would probably prefer to have full renault service history instead of full service history..

After the 24k service I got from my local dealer I know I would prefer to have a renault specialist service my car in the future, I just dont understand why renault say no it doesnt need doing and the specialists we know through this site say we do?.....

Yes loads do way more Renault dealers know about this that none Renault dealers do. ALso the delaers know how to do Aux belts and cambelts most places don't.

another show of incompetence by main dealers... :S

To be fair the 72k for AUX belt was the old rules it was changed when the belts faird and lot and most dealers never checked/found out.

Yeah said they would drop me off in town just didnt know thats what Alex was on about :) ta

Yeah its by Spinnaker tower, loads of factory shops outlets theres a full list on their site: http://www.gunwharf-quays.com/
Not sure whether 5 hours will be enough! Loads of good designer shops Ted Baker, Paul Smith, French Connection etc. And as Rich said Rentech will drop you in, and just think of all that money you have saved on the service!

Lol at shopping like its the last thing she will ever do ..

Shopping is fantastic .. need some new holiday stuff too so all is good !!

I think I'm in the minority of blokes but I also love shopping, but I tend to buy the first thing I see that I like, unlike my missus who sees about ten things and then goes back to the first thing that she saw and buys it after 3 hours of looking at other stuff ! Women huh ?!?
