36k service - who has been quoted a higher price than this?

it's about £70 if you buy the parts (from Renault) and do it yourself (!)
probably do it for little more than half that if you used a cheaper oil
(that does exclude the belt though)

  Mondeo 2.0LX & Volvo V50
I would never use Renault again. Water put in power steering reservoir! They are hopeless! Renault recommends one oil, they put in whatever they want! I take it to a friend's garage now and he uses the genuine parts but actually has a clue what he's doing. I also buy the oil myself (Shell Helix) and he puts it in which saves more money!

Renault Coulsdon - £739!

Im booked in elsewhere!

How did they justify it being that high?!
I'm getting my 36k service done at Renault because I want the stamp, but I am going to get the Aux belt done by someone else, do the oil myself, breaks if needs be, so that way they do the bare minimum and can't rip me off...

I assume the dealers are ok with this?!...
Would love it if they come back to me and say the brakes need doing when i know they are 100% fine!

  Clio 182
I've booked in at K-Tec for my 36k tomorrow. £210+ vat on the website. I'm wondering if cliosport discount is valid for services...? Forgot to ask on the phone.
Need new brake pads too so even with those it should still be less than getting it done at Renault!
Didn't even contemplated getting the service done at renault tbh.

so do people not really care about a full Renault service history these days then?...
Personally no because they're generally f**king idiots!, would much prefer a specialist history.

Fair play.... seems to be the concensus on here...
There must be some advantages of keeping a FRSH though?..... I have 6k to go until my 36k service and am deliberating about whether to take it back to Renault or to go with the local specialists that people have talked about!?

  Tangoed Works
I go to renault specialists R-Sport in wimbledon. The do a lot of prep work for some of the cup racers and also supply them new. Get to keep the FRSH, excellent service and not a cowboy in sight.

Taken mine there for 3 services now.

Sounds like you have it sorted.... Wimbledon is a bit of a trek for me though!?....:dapprove:
What i was thinking about doing was doing the oil change/filters/pads myself and getting someone locally to do the aux belt, then taking it to Renault to get the stamp, but they'll still probably charge me the flat rate for the service, and doing it myself will probably antagonise them and they may end up treating it less carefully shall we say?!...

FRSH - who cares!

Rather go to a specialist any day of the week!

Renault work just to have a job and have no interest in the cars.

Specialists are smaller companies set up due to enthusiam for the car they specialise in, it will always get you a better job and cheaper price. They also have far more to lose if they do a bad job rather than a massive manufacturer like Renault.

I wouldn't care whether the stamps were Renault or a specialist if i was buying a car, anyone who does shouldn't be buying the car in the first place!

  Focus RS Mk1
i as just quoted by camden renault in northampton £300 for a 36k mile service...WITHOUT THE BELTs

told them that was ridiculous!

  172 mk2 Iceberg
yea got quoted silly money down there..

I now allways go to rentech much better value

And a good job evertime unlike any stealer

  Renaultsport Clio 182
i reckon i'm gonna trak down to K-Tec for my 36k service which is due in about 4-6 weeks time i'd say. i'm saving some moolah ready for it

I could read this thread again and again and still be bewildered as to how Renault can vary so much in their quotes, and how they can charge so much... don't they know about these forums and that people actually discuss their "business strategies"?!...

My car has FRSH but I guess I'm lucky, my local dealer have always been great. The service guy I talk to there knows his stuff and the only issue I've had in the time I've been dealing with them with my cars (R5 GT turbo, 02 plate 172 and my 54 plate 182) is once they put the car through their swirl-o-matic despite being told not to wash the car. Other than that I can't fault them.

36K isn't cheap and make sure they're quoting for the aux belt too which is due.
