3rd gear in new 197 - story so far

Just to update that the new gearbox that was fitted has the longer 5th and 6th ratios! I didn't realise until I'd spent some time on the motorway and it seemed a little less buzzy - a glance at the revometer at 70mph shows 3,300 rpm instead of 3,600 rpm!

Trile: the symptom for me was a nasty gear crunching noise when engaging 3rd.

Ben, you will probably notice an improvement (although only slight) in fuel economy.

Our new 197 with 4k on the clock returns 29/30 on a regular basis

I've seen a slight improvement - it's easier to get into 35+mpg territory when taking it easy on long runs now. I don't want to attribute too much to the gearbox, as it's loosening nicely with 6,500 on the odometer.
