3rd to 4th gear crunch

Ello everyone.

Just bought a 2004 172 and there is an intermittent crunch on 3rd gear only and doesn't do it all the time you can't hear the crunch you can only feel it , doesn't do it all the time but when putting it in fourth you can feel it slightly.

Any ideas?

I hated 3rd in my 172 (also a 2004, on original box & clutch etc.)

Didn't matter what speed I did it at, I wound up having to rev-match to make a clean shift.

Depending on the circumstances you may just need some linkages fiddled with, maybe some gearbox oil. Ultimately though, the synchos are made of feathers, a couple of dodgy shifts and that's your lot.
