40 or 45

Im not to hot on tyre knowledge but is there a difference in handling when going froma 45 to a 40 tyre (215/45/ or 215/40) Or is it mainly for the look?

SLightly less roll on the 40s due to smaller sidewall, but you will feel the bumps more Stick with the 45s

I went from 195/55/15 to 225/40/17

That's a shock! I miss big sidewalls for kerbs tho, but you end up with massive load going into corners quickly.

Just there is no difference in price. Only issue i can see is my rears are like new still so will be running 45s rear and 40s front. Think i will just stick with the 45s

45 is perfect imo, not to thin but not ugly thick.

Surely a change in the rolling radius will affect the speedo non?

By a very small amount.

15 to 17 would make a decent difference but speedos are usually 2-3mph out anyway.

My puma speedo was a good 5-6mph out, which worried me so i checked my satnav in my mates ka and it was the same!!

I tested my 200 the other week and it was only 1 mph out at 7 which is pretty good. My GF micra is 7-8 mph out at 70 which is a crazy difference really.
