4getting to dip clutch when engaging gears

  172 SPORT PH2
Just did the most awfullist crunch, would this damage the gearbox then ? I was just in a mind of my own, and totally 4got to dip the clutch when changing gears.... advise ?

PMSL! Can honestly say I've never done that before, I have missed a gear before and had the dreaded crunch (not in this cup).

How high were your revs? I'd imagine if you did it alot you'd strip the teeth off the cogs.

i did that once or twice in my old saxo. i did it once and didnt even notice as the engine/road speed must of matched!

Not that I'd advise, but if you're really slick with the gear change you don't even need the clutch.
Should imagine the gears are fine, everybody is guilty of the odd minor gear crunch from time to time when slip on the clutch.

Ive not forgot to clutch down, But brought the clutch up to quick when going into 2nd and had the crunch.

Just try not to do it again.

Anything that crunches in an engine / transmission cant be good.

dependent on the car you can change gear with out the clutch quite easily if you match then revs. just to do it alot in some of my old 205's lol

you need a good gearbox before you can get away with clutchless changes; probably safer not to bother in a Renault!

don't really need to match the revs for up-changes - just ease the lever in; usually need to blip the throttle for down-changes
