4spd - 5spd

Ok everybody its officially peeing me off now 4 gears isnt enough!

what 5 speed box will run well with a 1.2??

yep might as well just drop a 1400 engine and box in, looks exactly the same as the 1200 as well so its up to you if you want to tell the insurnace or not.

a later 1.2 had a 5 speed box.have a ring round some breakers yards.a 1.4 box would fit if thats all you can find.

is there anyway the insurance company could tell if i had a 1.4 lump? had considered this as i neeeeed more power!

...or you could just drop a 1.2 gearbox inot it, i have a 1.2 special deition oasis, they had 5 doors, sunroof and 5 gears, i woudl say that would be easier

May be time to find out how much a GTT/RSI/16v Conversion is gonna cost!

bah 1.2s aint too bad, keep up with alot of cars in the slower speeds, ok they are a bit slow in the higer speeds > 50mph

which engine do you have,either-

1,D7F-has a plastic inlet manifold that curls over the rocker cover etc.

or

2,E type engine.rocker cover visible and has energy written on it in white letters.

if your 1.2 is a e type engine then a 1.4 engine visually looks exactly the same so you could do a engine swap and it would be very unlikely that anybody would find out.

Yeah i have an E type engine, can see rocker cover only plastic is the airbox!



how much could i find an RT engine for and what would i be looking for as obviously i cant see it running and as much as i would like to take sombodys word for it you never know for sure do you!

get the engine from a large breakers company so you get a few days warranty.gives you time to fit it and make sure its ok.a complete running engine should cost a couple of hundred quid at the most.
