4x98, WTF?

ok........so got a set of speedline 15" turinis on ebay, advertised as 4x100, 15". They had s**tty tyres on but wasnt bothered, was going to get some 45 profile ones. Went to pick them up from wrexham today, the guy was cool, owns his own wheel refurbishing company.

I get home, get them outta the car, and notice on the back, 4x98 :S I didnt even know you could get that PCD for a start....Holes look original, dont seem to look like they have been drilled out........The guy had them on a 4x100 old honda, so 4x100 and ET35 (is what he told me) i thought sweet they will fit no probs, as my superleggeras are ET36, and i have to run those with spacers on the front anyway.......

Before i went to get them i asked on email were they definately ET35 and 4x100, reply was yeah. So now, ive got these wheels, 4x98 (What car is this?) and the ET stamp is blank on the back of the wheel, although ive offered it upto the car and they are the same as the superleggeras, so must me ET35ish....Not bothered about that though, moreso the 4x98 issue.

So the question is, what car are these meant for? And how did he have them on a 4x100 honda? Im confused to fcuk and seems a bit dodgy putting these on when they have 4x98 clearly stamped on the back....

Also typed the SL1762 into google, returns nothing really remotely to do with speedline corse wheels.....

I offered the wheel upto the hub/drum.........holes seemed to line up, BUT, its only 2mm, but this could obviously could make a massive difference without looking odd by human eye

tryed 1 on the car to see if it will fit?

the only other 4 stud pattern i know is 108 peugeot & citroen :S

  01 Renaultsport Clio 172
4x98 is a MGF iirc as i was bidding on a set of comomotives from a MGF presuming they were 4x100 like all other MG zr's ect but not so...

this farking car i swear..........about as much luck as, fcuk knows.......looks like they are going back

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
them team dynamics, were 4x100 and 4x98 fitted both sels of holes fine, usually the holes are like 2mm bugger than the holes on your hub anyway

yeah i know that, have them on my superleggeras.........was just seeing if laura had spigot rings in the team dynamics when she ran 4x98's on hers....to center the wheel

  Track 172 & Golf R32
i duno mate i mean if they fit 4x98s on hers i cant see any problems with them on urs although it does sound a bit dodgy

  172
buy wobbly wheel bolts foxy,if they are the correct bore then fine,if not then spigot rings and your sorted

EDIT: no spigot rings then just wobblies!!

bolts with a shim on the end so they can adjust to slighty diff sizes iirc....actually the bolts that came with my clio from the factory are wobbly bolts they have the movable piece on the end.
tbh i think youll be fine with your wheels mate

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
honestly jord they will be fine, the holes are slightly bigger than the holes in the hub anyway so you have 2mm worth of play regardless, same as 4x100 would fit a 4x98 car

4x98 is Fiat as said above. The wheels should fit fine, use wobbly bolts.

Although, if you're not 100% happy, then take them back for a refund. He said they were 4x100, you believed they were 4x100, but they are actually 4x98.

  a thirsty one
list of cars with 4x98 as follows.

alfasud/33/sprint
alfa 75
alfa 155/145/146/164
fiat tipo/panda/punto/tempra
fiat 131/132
fiat x/19
lada samara/riva
lancia delta/dedra/thema
lancia intergrale (to 1991)
seat ibiza/malaga
simca
sunbeam alpine

your right hondas run 4x100 assuming it was a accord/prelude/crx

fiat tipo/tempera/panda/punto have offset 30-38 with c.bore 58
lada samara/riva also have offset 35-38 with c.bore 58.5
lancias were offset 30-38 with c,bore 58 (intergrale was a 30 offset only)
seat as listed above were 58 c.bore with 35-38 offsett.

the honda is 56 c.bore and 35-38 offset.

clio is 60 c.bore with 35-38 offset.

Wobbly bolts and spigot rings are needed!

will be fine with above

wobbly bolts are used for fitting 4x98 to 4x100 and vice versa..

Send them back, will be a ballache to sell on and not going to fit 100 right.
Especially if you are 2.0'ing it, a lot of stress on the wheels.

my thoughts exactly tbh.........even wobbly bolts sounds a bit dodgy, if a hub is designed for 4x100 wheels id only want to run that size on them, not use 4x98 and make do

emailed 3 times in the past few days, no reply as of yet.

I got them through ebay, and paid through paypal, so its not like im covered, but...........its not like hes going anywhere. He has his own company doing alloy wheel repair, met him at his unit on a business park. Also, he is fixing my superleggera, well his company is, so not like he can do a runner.

Hopefully il get an email back soon

2mm will be fine with wobbly bolts. theres many many fiat gt's out there running serious power and wobbly bolts without problems.

no need to return them.

the problem i seem to be having on the fronts though is the FK spacers....The bolts i have are longer for a start, and the spacers are 15mm hubcentric. The bolt holes are the exact right size for the bolt, on the spacer........so there is no lee-way for the bolts to move around?
