5 year gap in MOT history

Hi,
Just wanted to people’s thoughts or opinions on this. I bought my 182 in October 2024, good little standard car for what I paid for it. It has been lowered but I wouldn’t say it’s setup for a track car. One advisory on a previous MOT was no rear seats or belts fitted, that was around 2015, which it passed but it didn’t have another MOT until 2020, I’ve checked the location and it stayed around the same area so I’m not sure what to think.
Thanks for any input l!

It only matters if there is no record of maintenance over or after that five year period (if it was laid up).

From the sounds of things it was probably a track car

My 200 has a 4 year gap between mot's. The previous owner bought it as attack car but then decided it was too good for that and left it sat for 3 years. It was a right shed when I got it 🤣.

I wouldn't be worried by it, just make sure your happy with the condition as you would any car, My ph1 172 Exclusive disappeared for 8 years and only done 8 miles, and ive now had it tucked away for 3 years, its not unusual for hot hatches or older cars to get tucked away for a few years as they are usually a 2nd/project car by this point.

I wouldn’t worry. Mine has had 2 MOTs since 2017. Just depends on how arsed I can be with it

I parked my Civic Ek9 up in our then new double garage in 2017..... MOT'd it last year... 7yrs parked up. Mortgage cost, bigger house, more expenditure made it hard to justify it being on the road at the time.
