172 cup, mgb, mini
Thought people would like to hear about my experience at 519.
I have only had the car a few weeks but brought it knowing that it needed a new dephaser as it sounded like my old David Brown Tractor i phoned round our local garages (west wales) and only the main dealer was happy to do the work cheapest quote was £700 + vat for belt kit and dephaser from a non dealer garage although they where unsure about doing the work. So i decided to travel 250 miles to see Dan, this has turned out to be one of my better decisions, Dan clinically set about the job and in less that three hours had changed the oil, belts and dephaser. Because we was so quick he then swopped over all the springs for me changed the rear shocks renewed the seal on the camshaft cover and replaced the steering pump sensor (leaking) and tidied up a few oddities with the car. All this was done for a couple of pounds more than the best price i could get for the belts and dephaser. One of the things that struck me was his thoroughness, when sorting out the rocker cover seal he cleaned all the parts in a cleaning bath, including all the bolts, I have been in plenty of garages were I would have been lucky if they wiped it with an old rag.
So I think Dan will be come a regular pilgrimage for me and my little cup and the 250 miles home where the best the car has run since owning it.
As a side note all parts used are genuine Renault parts
