52 or 54mm Spacing for suspension

I am looking to buy a lowering kit for my Mk1 clio but I need to know if it is 52 or 54 mm spacing.

Can someone tell me what this spacing is referring to so that I can go and measure it?

you can just about do it with your wheel on full lock

get on the ground, get your wheels on full lock, where the suspension strut attaches to the hub by 2 bolts, its the distance between the centres of those 2 bolts

make sure what ever you measure it with is accurate, not a bent mashed ruler etc, its easier than you think to get the wrong measurement

I was thinking that earlier TBH - 2mm is not an awful lot of room for error.

Ill use my elastic measuring tape - you can make it whatever size you want

theres a big camber difference on the shocks between 52 and 54mm spacing...

trust me, i learnt the hard way by getting the wrong kit, and getting the fronts modified so they worked on my 52mm spacing...

wore a new set of tyres down within 500 miles

basically if its a 1.2 8v on a 98-01, its more than likely 52mm (my grande is a 52mm, its a BB0A/CB0A chassis with solid discs)

hi all, just to bring this old thread back to surface. I just measured my bolt from top of one bolt to top of another (assume will be the same as middle to middle, its just too awquard angle to get middle to middle) and it reads 52 mm.

Is this normal for a 52 plate (new shape) authentique, 1.2 8v?
