Driving today (in the rain) finally get onto a stretch of road and put my foot down to accelerate, get to about 5000rpm and it sounded like the worlds largest and loudest Tuba was played at full volume in my car untill about 5500rpm and it died off completly, (it did this in every gear) it basicly sounded like I had a really loud exhaust for a second! It even hurt my ears as I wasnt expecting that at all!
There was no change to the performance through the gears. The car is 100% standard, also I havent been over 4000 rpm in months... So What could this be?
As it is rev related does it have something to do with the exhaust / cat passing gas at this frequency and making it vibrate? I hope the exhaust isnt buggered as it is totally quiet at all other revs and passed the emissions test fine 6 months ago.
