5th Gearbox help

I have just changed my 5th gear and all was ok but the 2nd time I put it into 5th it all locked up. I removed the cover and found selector come off the sprocket at the end and this keeps doing this what have I done wrong or not done.

Sounds like you've not put in the spring clip.

There was no sprig clip on it there was a pin holding the selector to the rod that went it but it is the selector that is connected to the rod that is coming off the sprocket I will put on a photo when I strip it down today
